Deepfakes can cause your family to completely cut you off. Many older people will not understand deepfakes and will believe they are real. Many jobs or organizations will also think they are real, and even if not, they will not hire or work with you because of the deepfake because it will make the company look bad. Deepfakes can destroy relationships, careers, and the wellbeing of the victim. It’s not some silly thing. If the video is even slightly believable, it will be believed. It is defamation, sexual harassment, and identify theft. It is a crime.
