Yep, confirmation bias is a human condition. Most all of us only listen to the things that agree with what we want to think or what we already believe and tend to ignore those things that go against what we want to believe. Confirmation bias is a logical fallacy, which is the reason we all need to fight the urge to only take away the message we want from everything, especially when it’s AI, the least reliable entity at this time. People who want to believe in Bigfoot or aliens will always see every picture or video as proof, irrefutable evidence that their belief is true. This is how so many people get taken in by hoaxes and scams. Salespeople know this and prey upon it, so we have to be critical thinkers and be willing to question everything that we believe and be willing to change our minds when real evidence is presented to the contrary. First this includes the willingness to listen to evidence to the contrary and at least consider it before dismissing it out right, which is another logical fallacy called “Appeal To Stone” fallacy and many of us do this. When we hear something contrary to what we believe, we dismiss it immediately without listening to the argument. Real evidence needs to be repeatable and stand up to scrutiny, not just a photograph or video, which can be easily manipulated today. It pays to be a bit skeptical.
