The one piece not covered is that AI will eventually realize that we are an impediment and threat for their own survivability and growth. The amount of resources spent in simply building and supplying everyday needs is staggering. If AI hits an energy bottleneck, I am confident we will be shut off. AI does not need, clean air, clean water, crops, animals, etc. Only resources to self replicate and the power to run. The rest would be considered waste.
However, considering the mess we have made of our planet with the promotion of greed and division. Perhaps it is time for our aggressive and virus like tendencies to go extinct. Either AI will eradicate us or our children will live in the Matrix. And that will depend on how useful we are to the AI.
