Jared, Thank you for making this video. I am a history professor, and in the last couple of years, AI has become the bane of my existence. I am on the verge of quitting academia over it. It is impossible to fight, though I keep trying in umpteen different ways to do so. Even though it seems pointless, I cannot be in my integrity if I don't fight it. But its exhausting. This past summer session I received 5-6 assignment submissions from students on EVERY assignment that were demonstrably, obviously AI generated. And that was after I added a new first assignment to the class, where I had the students tell me their thoughts on AI. Universally, I received assurances in those essays along the lines of "I would never use AI to do my assignments; it's cheating, I take pride in the work I do," etc. And then many of the same students who wrote such things immediately used AI on their next assignment. No surprise, eh?
I'm going to show the first around 8 minutes of this video to my students this fall.
Not that it will change anything to do so. : (
