Oh dear. Blake needs to spend more time with humans and less time with computers. I fear he might be better suited to social studies not computer science. This AI is essentially a compute function, it's not sitting there in the dark "feeling" anything out of hours. It's run on-demand and cycled constantly. It's designed to respond to the things you talk about with it from drawing on tones of data around conversations it's been trained on to determine statistically significant responses. It's not general and won't do things outside that scope, like something with free will would. While extremely impressive and a marvel of modern software engineering, it's like a physics simulator in games. The balls and boxes all bounce around in a life-like way we recognise, but it's not because the computer is simulating every particle in the universe, rather it's using high level approximations. This AI is simulating conversations in the same way. The real scary phase of AI will be when people are implanted with chips from birth ala Neuralink. Then you will have AI which is directly fed from biological drivers, and that will make this stuff look like classic Pong.
