There is nothing inherently wrong with AI image generation. It is all about how we use it. Scrapping parts of other people work and pasting them together to form another thing is not stealing. It is just as if i cut bits of various magazines and assemble a collage with them. That is not stealing if i own the magazines. The moment you become the owner of something, you can do with it whatever you want. So the question comes down to wether the person who feeds a given image to the AI has the right to do so or not. If the given image was provided by its original owner in any way whatsoever, if they gave it for free or sold it, then it's prefectly rightful to feed it to the AI. Due credit and copyright are not qualities of the WORKS of art, they are qualities of its AUTHORS. The proper distribution of their work has to be defined and implemented BY THEM, and is only on that basis that they can punish those who deviate from it.
