So it's not the AI that's racist. We're racist and we taught that to the AI that does exactly what you tell it to do.
On a second note, consider the fact that if we can validate that the data is not biased, that means the problem isn't with the AI, and it unfortunately means there is a basis for racial or gender "discrimination" for lack of a better term. The fact of the matter is IF we can definitively prove that race and gender does have bearing on various element of physiology, then we can't just deny that on ethical grounds. Pretending it's not real because it's a deeply ugly truth doesn't accomplish anything productive and ultimately worsens the problem. The first step to fixing a problem is acknowledging it.
