The only way to keep the AI from feeding itself its own feces is through the work of human artists, otherwise you get recursive feedback that leads to all sorts of garbage outputs. Think of the average person utilizing AI, they can't prompt worth a crap and their 'creation' is the average of their garbage prompt. Feed that back into AI training and you eventually end up with the average of average to infinity, regardless of how masterful a new prompt may be. Plus, without artists, you can never introduce new things to AI sans asking it to 'recreate' said things from a real picture from its training data, which isn't the same as the way a person could stylize it in an authentically and artistically pleasing way. AI art has its place, the same way LLMs have their place. It's to aid people who either can't physically, don't have the time to learn the skill, or to enhance the capabilities of an already artistic individual however that might be done.
