The "AI" tech bubble has been a scourge on literally every industry it has touched in it's limited time within the open market. The thing that I hate the most about all this "AI" bullshit aside from the blatant theft of copywritten works of actual art made by creative people, is the fact that what all these companies are calling "AI" isn't even close to Artificial Intelligence. These are LLMs (Large Language Models) and ANNs (Artificial Neural Networks) and are basically self-testing and self-adjusting algorithms. These are just algorithms that are tweaked by data and programs instead of humans. I would argue calling these bots "AI" and "Artificial Intelligence" should be classified as false advertising at best, and fraudulent business practices at worst. And that's not even getting into the fact that these companies are stealing and scraping data from the largest information data set in all of human history combined while not paying anything for the damage that they're causing to individuals with high server ping request traffic and theft of copywritten works, and to the environment with their ludicrously inefficient use of electricity, while at the same time making money off of selling your personal information to advertisers. Poisoning LLM and ANN data sets to ruin their models is the very least that we as citizens should be doing to fight back against these completely useless and (in the case of the god damn Grok twitter model) actively harmful to people. LLMs and ANNs have done nothing to improve society sense the day they were unleashed onto the internet and our personal devices. They are actively stealing jobs that people used to make money to buy goods and services which promoted economic stability, and were replaced with bots that do anywhere from as-good-as, to actually worse than humans while contributing nothing to society, the economy, and wasting electricity. Last point I would like to make is that if you type words into an ANN and get a picture out that was trained on data from human artists, the only actual art and artist that was involved in that process was the original artist and work of art. ANNs are not artists, they barely even qualify as tools let alone artistic tools. ANN users are not artists. Generated images are not art. Art is an EXCLUSIVLY HUMAN task that requires independent thought, sentience and consciousness, and creativity. Coincidentally these are three things that are categorically impossible for every single LLM and ANN in existence. The image generated is not art, it is a copy of actual art that has been run through an algorithm to give a slightly different result. And no, this process of copying and re-generating the image is not "inspiration" as that would require independent thought, creativity, and an idea to combine ideas/concepts/or relevant works by others into a new work that is influenced by your personal techniques and style. In my opinion, ANNs and LLMs in their current iterations will not be the path in which actual Artificial Intelligence is achieved, let alone Artificial General Intelligence. Current models and networks are starting to plateau in performance and capability even after having scrapped and trained on almost all of the entire internet and are still no where near to mastering even limited tasks that are purely digital. If these "AI"s are unable to become intelligent or even independent after being trained on the largest collection of information EVER, then it's safe to say that these technologies are limited and are very unlikely to become the method by which true AI is created. Inconclusion, not if but when the "AI" bubble finally pops, it will be well deserved and justified. And I will be alongside likeminded people rejoicing their downfall with great delight.
