Is it more than a bit ironic that a man, in order to secure his son's future, uses his great intellect to advance a technology that is likely to ensure that son's future is at best obsolete, and at worst, nonexistent? Mankind has been able to keep the Nuclear Genie in the bottle for eighty years now, perhaps he will be able to do the same with AI. I guess the Silver Lining is that Climate Change is moved down the list of Things to Worry About.
