Dutch government fell due to using really simplified AI with like 5 different (name, age, ethnicity, place of residence, gender) indicators to predict who is committing child care benefit fraud. Government employees just "believed" the computer without any evidence and put all the people under strict automated supervision, froze all their assets and demanded a lot of money. Without any court or proof of fraud.
These people believe that the magic box after doing the magic thing just spits out magical truth. I'm a computer scientists and it definitely worries me that the media just glossed over that the government is using AI to subvert due process, they only cared about the skin color of the victims. So I guess we continue on without due process as long as certain groups get special treatment to prevent getting into trouble.
