Barf. Humans empathy is so easy to highjack. Evolution did it for learning. and now that we have AI that we told it to make the right noises we can't actually understand its not real.
I've seen enough sci Fi movies to understand this. Maybe I understand it further- why the denial makes sense at first.
One flaw in sci Fi movies is that they telegraphed consciousness in a very human way. Which apparently AI can fake telegraphing consciousness incredibly well.
