I went to the major biology conference in 2014 where the keynote speaker told us adamantly and in no uncertain terms that there would be no employed pathologists within 3 years. They'd be replaced by neural nets and deep learning. And anybody studying to be a pathologist was crazy.
Well, here we are 11 years later and there are as many pathologists as ever, probably more.
And here we are 10 years later and it's finally becoming clear that full self driving is not within the capabilities of neural nets and deep learning.
So when I hear "these jobs will not exist in 24 moths" I'm sorry but I've lived long enough to know better. If you were born yesterday, then you're forgiven.
