AI uses the concept of gradient decent to optimize the cost/error of a neural network's output when given some input. You feed iterations of input data into the neural network and use a back propagation algorithm to to adjust the parameters of the network to lower the error of the output compared to some desired value (the process of training the neural network).
However, this just gives you a function that has a low error rate when generating the outputs for specific types of input. It appears intelligent, but it really is just a program that has been trained to be really good at approximating outputs for a function.
Apparent intelligence isnt actual intelligence. As impressive as AI is today, the creating true intelligence would require a deeper understand of how conciousness works.
