I love that you were brave enough to acknowledge nuance because everything is SO black and white in the discourse about this right now. But also, all new technology throughout history has offered new techniques and mediums for artists to utilize to express themselves. Television was once seen as artless slop. CG animation was once seen as cheating. If an artist buys their paint at the store rather than grinding the materials from nature into a powder to smear it onto a cave wall, and buys a canvas rather than gathering and manually processing the materials to build their own, does that mean their art isn't real art? Some people think technical skill is what makes "real art," but then what about Fountain from 1917 that was literally just a found object urinal placed in a museum, that is credited as revolutionary in art history? Others feel that the intention and/or expression is what makes a piece "true art." Just saying- AI cannot be the artist, but there is little reason it can't be used as a tool and medium to express the artist's vision. Especially with the process of iteration often taking hours to get things just right (although it might get more easily moldable- like going from sculpting from marble to clay), i definitely feel that an artists's expression is what makes it art and AI is just another medium.
