I dont trust the concept of anthropomorphized "AI" alien sapience turning into our greatest fear(An uncontrollable, extremely efficient and discerning authoritarian system of prejudice and violence, except pointed in the "wrong" direction)
But I do genuinely believe we are so deeply obsessed with anthropomorphizing and seeing intentionality in things that are otherwise relatively benign and unaware, that we will give sweeping and broad control of extremely critical infrastructure to what amounts to a highly advanced sorting algorithm in a vain and arrogant attempt to achieve some imaginary and unattainable level of "efficiency" that we've always idealized and pretended was our goal.
Also that after the horrific cascade of systems failures that those actions cause, we will realize quickly that many of the systems we rely on were founded on skills and work that we no longer prioritize, and that the rebuilding will become very hard in the face of our ruin.
