The most important point is that this isn't an "if", it's a "when". There's no putting the genie back in the bottle, all you can do is prepare intelligently for the future, for a completely new economic reality, for a new way of resource distribution and so on. If AI is a good tool or benevolent we'll enter a new golden age. If AI wants to eradicate us, it's already over and there's nothing we can do about it.
