The idea that your worth is your work is a historically constructed ideology, born out of: religious guilt ~ industrial efficiency ~ corporate greed ~ political control. It was not designed for your happiness, and AI threatens it by making it obsolete — which is why it's being aggressively re-sold to the public today. Of the 330 million people in America, only about 60% work - the rest are children, students, stay-at-home parents or caregivers, retirees, disabled, constantly on welfare, or just can't find a job anymore because their degree is worthless. So it would be an easy shift to UBI via AI+robot taxes for corporations; it just may take some food riots and burning of govt buildings before the politicians are convinced of its necessity.
