For context, this interview was 2.5 years ago, when OpenAI had just released GPT-4. Significant progress has been made since then, yet we're still debating whether the technology is conscious.
I think any LLM, no matter how good it is, is greatly limited by the fact it's an LLM. We'll probably need whatever comes after LLMs, before the tech really wakes up.
