As both a guy in tech and a hobby artist, it’s so good to finally see someone actually talk about the real problems and possible solutions for AI art, instead of spending half the video trying to convince themselves that AI art is gonna go away, and that it looks terrible. I get it hurts a lot to admit, but shitty companies aren’t gonna spend 5× more money on an artist just because he’s human. And yes, AI art does look good (which even I struggle to communicate), and for someone who’s not into art, it doesn’t really matter. Little Billy is still gonna use AI to generate the image for his Spiderman and pregnant Elsa meme, he doesn’t care if it’s ethical or not. What we should be doing is actually discussing the lack of ethics and the absolute corporate abuse that training centers are doing right now. I know it’s a bit of a different opinion, but I think we should be realistic and actually focus on the illegal stuff. From a tech perspective, AI is a miracle, just not for the uses it’s currently being given. For once, you can make a robot learn how to walk and adapt to different terrains by itself instead of having to hard-code every single thing. We can have AI analyzing millions and millions of data points from medical studies to find possible causes for certain diseases. AI is a goddamn fighter jet of a tool, and we’re using it to go buy groceries. What the actual fuck is in those dumbasses’ heads? Hope you get my point and don’t feel personally offended by it, that’s not the intent.
