Bit of a Luddite attitude on how AI works as an integrated tool within the entire creative process. The videos that are being AI generated take huge amounts of time and skill and are already appearing at festivals and being rightly regarded as a new field of work attracting significant talent. These predominantly begin with AI generated imagery. To say that this work will ultimately not be copyrightable is simply wrong, There is a world of difference between typing in sentences to create silly images of a cat wearing a top hat etc and those which are outstanding works requiring multiple pieces of software and hardware and prolonged periods of research and use of additional materials. You wouldn’t enter a landscape to win a portrait competition so this is where the error is, not that his work doesn’t belong to him or he should have no rights over it. This argument will eventually fall in the courts and certain AI works will be copyrighted.
