Fascinating, I think AI may be the ultimate protoscience. And the terrifying lesson from Alchemy, is that we are multiple science/tech revolutions away from creating Intelligence, that's capable of true human *alignment*. Failing to make gold was fairly benign. AI that can't actually care about the fate of our species... yep that could be the Great Filter.
