Bernie is right, but he doesn't go far enough with his suggestions. In the limit, AI will make a universal basic income (UBI) necessary, and we must design a very strong taxation of AI and robotics companies to fund the UBI. AI models are trained on the entire internet, data which is the public domain, therefore, it should benefit everybody. How to do so requires care so that we don't lose advantages to China in the AI race. But it must happen through legal agreements and partnerships between the government and AI companies. We have to be extremely careful with this stuff, most AI researchers are aware of this, and every citizen must be too. AI could cause the collapse of not just the working class, but our entire financial system. The line between utopia and dystopia is razor thin.
