My opinion, AI is fair game the same way the tools are to defend against it. It will be an arms race where I can't see the clear winner. Though, I think it will accelerate the humanity's progress nonetheless - maybe in an unexpected way. Will see if my opinion changes when I watch till the end, I'll edit my comment then. E: tl;dr My stance remains the same, but I no longer see AI art being able to replace real art. E: Yeah, your video clarified to me why AI art is probably not gonna take. The major difference I notice is that human building upon another human's creation still creates something new, original, innovative. Whereas AI (be it text or image) doing that creates model degradation. So there's definitely a difference in the process. I disagree with the accessibility, though. You can already self-host your own AI image generator from readily available models on the Internet. So, pretty much the same cost as for the digital artist - a computer (maybe with beefier GPU). Why would I consider AI art appealing? I neither have talent nor time to draw it myself. I don't want to pay someone to do one piece for me and have a buyer's remorse later. Something without these negatives would be amazing for me. But now I see it's probably just a pipe dream. I come from a slightly different area that's also heavily influenced by AI nowadays (programming/coding), and I see a ton of benefits. Things you mentioned here, mainly referencing - it actually does work for coding. Generating basic programs and scripts to build upon is a good approach to speed up your work or learn a new language. So I was a bit hopeful it'd be the same for art.
