Here's a way to treat AI : ban it on the level we ban child corn. Past that level, even. Anyone using it loses all their money, is publicly horse-whipped in a city square, and goes to jail for a year. Companies using it get fined a years revenue for the first offence, then the entire management gets publicly horse-whipped and imprisoned for 20 years on a second offence. The government imposes a draconian no-AI playing field so fearsome that no one dares do it. All imports are tariffed if AI is used in any way to make it.
The country that does this gives its citizens a normal economy they can participate in and live normal lives in. If this country's neighbors want to descend into AI hell so the Sam Altman's of this world can get rich, their citizens need to demand the same.
