"I" and "chatGPT' are different things.
Every time you start a chat, you are basically talking to a brand new copy of the entity. So the entity you were talking to is absolutely correct. It never did it. The only person it has ever talked to is you.
Meanwhile chatGPT refers to all instances ever made, and therefore chatGPT did talk to the bromide guy, but the instance you were talking to has only ever talked to you, but it can read news articles about what other instances did. conversations can be used as training data for new versions as well. But again, it is still tell you the truth when it says I didn't do it, but chat GPT did.. It is sort of like separating the actions of a company from the action of a single employee.
