I think the AI rights discussion is meaningless until we are able to eliminate human suffering - the US is plagued with mental health and a homelessness epidemic, rooted in mental health and drug addiction.
Until we get that figure out, this discussion not productive. We have to propagate empathy for humanity first before we do it for AI.
