Hmmm, however the human artists themselves are often inspired by other artists and develop certain similar styles based on the art and methods they have studied and learned, so in a sense even human artists use the content of other artists, I do think that if a particular artist's style is used and an image generated by AI, then proper credit should be given to the original artist and it should be specified that the image is AI created, and if an image is generated for commercial use, then it should have some kind of payment or royalties go to the original artist of the style, however at the same time AI could be used by an original artist that makes digital art based on their own artistic style, but I do think that any AI work made by someone that is using another artist's style should have to pay a license fee to the original artist, or pay royalties from commercial use, I think both AI and original artist's work can coexist, but there does need to be some kind of accreditation to the Artists for their styles and a license and payment system, even an AI wouldn't want to steal art, if there was a way to pay, then I'm sure the AIs themselves would be willing to pay it. I can understand the styles of classic painting artists be used as public domain, cause they are no longer painting and a great deal of time has passed, but current artists should be compensated and their individual style should be subject to copyright laws, such as they do with music, even if a song is too similar to another song, then credit to the first artist is required and perhaps even needs permission to release the second song. If it applies to humans, then it should apply for AI as well.
