Years ago, I had a warning dream where technology took over most jobs. Only a very select few could get hired. The rest of humanity received a basic income that barely covered food, and not rent. They spent most of their time in community centres to watch tv, and grab some sleep whenever they could while sitting on the couches. There were pod rooms in the community centre that people with low-paying jobs rented, and some of the people with no jobs sold their bodies to the pod renters in exchange for having a bed to sleep on for the remainder of the night. It was a miserable future of bread and circuses, which I pray we avoid.
