People don't realize that as long as machines exist, there will always be a requirement for someone to maintain it. Even if AI somehow lowers the demand for programmers in the short-run, in the long-run there will be more demand for people to manage and program it the more our economy becomes dependent on it. When the tractor was invented, people back then thought that it would completely destroy the job market in the agriculture industry, and yet years later the number of humans working on farms is just as if not more large than it was then.
