I think they want to target big techs because Silicon Valley do not sing along with warmongers. Hence they want to rein them in line like they control traditional media, like the CNN NBC CNBC MSNBC BBG NY TIMES REUTERS FOX...
Lately Facebook is frequently being singled out so many times in co ordinated efforts across the pond. But no matter how Facebook uses our data it is just want to sell us something, “assault” is an inappropriate word when all its purpose is to offer a product or service and hope that we will buy it. The finAl decision rest with us.
Prism program by the government on the other hand is unsolicited coercion spying on us for which we have no opt out option.
If we don’t like data being used by big tech to predict our behaviour we only have to shop using their products say for our menstrual cycle or mental health. But we have no where to hide from government surveillance and the government did not collect Dara to please us. I just hope they don’t try to confuse the two players.
