An argument in favor of AI for artist. The biggest concern that I've seen most artists have against AI is that it will take away their jobs. This is a reasonable concern to have as these programs most certainly will do this, and it's a good thing. The complaint that most artists have is that they have to take shitty commission work to help fund their passion projects. So, why not off load the drudgery on an AI and focus more on your craft? Naturally this argument really only concerns digital artists, so those working with a physical medium will weather this robotic rebellion relatively unscathed. Now an argument could be made that someone could just forgo hiring an artist and use these programs instead. My counter to this is, "Do you think the type of people who are willing to pay for someone else to create an artwork are going to spend the time to learn a program to save money?" I personally believe that "No." would be the answer. Even better an artist can train their own AI model on their work so that they can streamline commissions. Honestly, I think this technology is more of a threat to the animation and FX departments than single image artists. The example I like to give out is training the AI on every episode of The Simpsons. There is already tech to generate Betweens to smooth out transitions so how hard would it be to feed a script into one of these models and to touch ups. You could turn out an animation that would normally take months in a week. So, the argument isn't all that solid but feel free to tweak it to flesh it out better. The genie is out of the bottle, the cat out of the bag. The only way this technology is going away is if we nuke the internet, and until these programs become an active threat to humanity this simply isn't going to happen.
