I'm one of those teachers who has used AI to help with teaching - ironically, to figure out ways to AI-proof my assignments. Sure enough, it suggested exactly what has come up in this video: do more in-class work rather than homework. I'm definitely taking this advice on board next semester.
I've also been thinking about ways that AI could be used that might stimulate their critical thinking skills, and it made me consider whether AI could be adapted to take a more Socratic approach: asking questions rather than giving answers, pushing back rather than praising the student, et cetera. It's got me a bit curious about how to move forward without having to leave teaching entirely.
Another irony? I discussed these ideas about using the Socratic method in AI to stimulate critical thinking...by asking ChatGPT to take that Socratic approach to discuss this idea with me.
Not sure yet whether that's an admission that requires a tah-dah! or a sad trombone. 😅
