If AI had conscience it wouldn't reproduce our prompts, instead they would wildly react towards different subjects. But they only answer to us, they don't pull a subject. Believing this is a complete madness. It's something that the humans been doing since beginning of times, it's what built the path to religion. You believe in something despite having the knowledge that it doesn't make any sense. But you still believe in it, because you want to believe in it. For some people, it simply makes sense.
