I'm not totally against the idea of a truck that can drive itself, I just hate the possibility of it taking jobs away. Instead of it being a replacement of the traditional truck driver, it should be a tool available to the driver to make their job a bit easier, but it also should not be regarded as time away from the seat because we still want them to get paid (they're already not paid enough as it is).
I think it was Volvo who had the idea of a truck where you get to the interstate and then set it to autonomous mode, then you can rotate your seat away from the pedals and relax a bit, then rotate it back to driving position and easily take over control again. Something like that would be good, so long as the driver is still present in the cab and getting their wage
