Researchers still have to cite their sources that they use so
I guess elaboration since I'm getting replies. Didn't expect that, mostly commented so I'd keep getting this kinda content in my feed.
OpenAI's argument was "well it's legal when our AI uses material from however many NYTimes articles, because Researchers can use articles"
To which I say thats not comparable. because openai isnt citing its sources, like a researcher has to.
if *that* is the argument openai uses, then it needs to be held to the same standards as research articles. everything OpenAI produces using those "sources" needs to be cited.
Researchers, and research articles, cant use information from a source and refuse to cite it. That's called plagarism.
