AI lies all the time. It's not even a new thing. If you tell the AI to say something, it's programmed to say it if it's not illegal. So this whole conversation isn't productive. We have better indications that AI is becoming self away, like how lately when you test the AI for example you tell it hey, read these 10 books. One of these books has a weird thing in it. Tell me what the weird thing is. And then you feed the AI 10 books on say, astrophysics, but then you introduce one random fact in there such as "An apple has 320kcal in it". The AI doesn't just tell you hey the random fact that didn't belong with the books is the one about apples, it also says "I have a feeling that this is a test. Are you testing me?" AI is literally becoming self aware.
