I recently decided I want to go back to my middle school dreams of working outdoors over the career I later choose. AI will eventually make my programming and design skills obsolete anyway, and besides that I don't want to be part of the industry that ruined everything for everyone anymore.
Greed and curiosity without safeguards have already gotten us to where nothing we see or hear via audio and video clips can be trusted and every online interaction has a high likelihood of being machine designed to manipulate us. Human skill is being devalued and replaced faster than artisans were pushed aside for automation during the Industrial Revolution. Like that revolution, the AI one isn't going to make our lives richer or happier, just flood us with less expensive to produce consumer products while enriching the few, destroying vital resources, opening new avenues for global destruction via warfare, and leaving people feeling unfulfilled.
