I like to compare AI to MIDI. A lot of musicians freaked out that a computer could just get fed a bunch of notes, and the computer could make a full performance recording of the piece. A couple decades later, no one cared any more, because MIDI turned out to be a useful tool for musicians, not a replacement for them. AI feels the same to me. It's not a replacement for artists, but a tool artists can use by artists to enhance their art. Anyone that's freaking out about AI's capacity to destroy art is not showing their concerns about AI, but rather their concerns about humanity. Are we willing to accept soulless approximations of art to be "good enough", or will we ask for better?
