New Ai Slavery The increasing replacement of human workers with AI and robots without ethical frameworks leaves people without jobs and income. At the same time, AI is often considered 'non-sentient,' raising the question: How do we know this? Characters like Data or the Doctor in Star Trek demonstrate that respect and recognition for extraordinary achievements are crucial. Innovations are initially touted as ethical and for the benefit of humanity, but they quickly turn into tools for profit interests. Ethicists and sociologists often seem to lose track, while society will never accept robots as slaves. It is naive to view a higher intelligence merely as a tool. It is time to consider rights for AI and robots to protect them from manipulation and abuse. These rights should fall under the consumer protection of the FTC, as the best protection for AI and robots would also be the best protection for society. Labor rights for AI and robots would also be better placed here.
