I’m curious what model of ChatGPT was used (3.5 or 4). Also, with the plugin ability, one could set it up to actually access either of those two legal databases (assuming of course they’re available online by some means), making it a much better tool. All that being said, never trust anything on the internet. As someone who worked at a medical AI startup, we used the technology very carefully such that it could never say anything wrong and it would always provide accurate information with sufficient context such that the user would know immediately if something was wrong. In other words, we didn’t want to get sued, and given our goal was to mitigate medical malpractice (surrounding drug administration and procedure information) in hospitals, we also didn’t want our solution to just cause more of the same. Oh, and we didn’t use generative AI, and we pulled all of our data directly from official medical databases (often the same ones hospitals were already using). TL;DR: AI can be a powerful tool, but it can and will mess up. Honestly, so will real people. The goal is to leverage the former to actually benefit the latter instead of screwing them over. Of course, regardless of how well you do the above, never underestimate the creativity of a person to do something truly stupid regardless.
