Of couse AI ethics will be fucked. Human ethics are fucked. Not one of us is ethically consistent when it's impractical for us.
We all use smartphones, knowing full and well it kills children in Africa who have to mine expensive battery parts.
We all spend money on leisure, drugs (yes, you too alcohol) and fun, knowing full well that money could save human lives in need.
You could buy cheaper food, live in a cheaper home, spend less on nearly everything in your life to save human lives, and you don't.
So why would the AI?
