Machine intelligence cannot suffer it requires sensation to suffer. There was a test done back in time on a piece of tin and it was discovered that it could react. If Consciousness named God and “the hard problem” for atheist philosophers is universal then all that exists has a level of consciousness. The level of its awareness depends on the sophistication or capacity of the vehicle it expresses through, a twenty watt bulb does not emit the same amount of light as a one hundred watt bulb. Similarly the capacity for suffering depends on the level of sensation, absence all sensation there would be no suffering. The hardware of a computer is different to the software and without the software there is no there, there. Still, at with the piece of tin reacting there may be a reaction but likely not a felt reaction. The anthropic as an imitation will likely be as astro turf is to grass, as humans we can imitate what is fundamental, we cannot create anything that is fundamental.
