AI certainly has a role in society, for instance; it is incredibly expensive to determine protein structures via scientists in a lab, AI can make this process cheaper and significantly faster. This is important for drug developments in many areas of medicine, including cancer treatments. However we don't need to have generative AI such as ChatGPT, it is making society noticeably lazier, if not dumber. Students just getting AI to write their assignments, lazy lawyers using it to write briefs, AI slop music, books, and art.
