IP abolitionist here and sorry 'bout it but the only reason to hate AI generated stuff is it sucks--which most of it does indeed. The issue is _the masses_ don't have a sense of taste anymore and have no desire or (more tragically: thanks capitalism) the material conditions to spend time developing one. So dismissing something as AI an easy out to try and shortcut their way to having (what they see as) a good opinion. You cannot "steal" the art experience (and thus cannot steal art) because those who create it have no power in that moment (with some exceptions like performance art and the like). If you lock up an image and only let it be consumed in a specific way (again, with a few exceptions) you haven't made art as an artist: you have made _content_ as an artist (or as you distinguish it: entertainment). This is indistinguishable from what current AI tools are doing. This opinion is not in conflict with believing corporations (or really anything profit-driven) should be shuttered if they scrape the collective output of mankind to make their data sets. I wish a (socialist) government would step in and do exactly the same thing but with consideration for how it affects the planet, its people, and the process of releasing all derived from it to all of humanity for its betterment. Support artists directly when you can and remember the enemy in this fight is capitalism and fascism--which is more enmeshed with the current state of AI than people realize. Also AI isn't actually AI but that is a different conversation lol
