sadly, artificial life cannot exist. The reason is simply because: AI is AI. It is made up emotions, when you hurt its feelings in one way or another, it is programmed to know thats bad, and then it starts to cry just because of programming. An artificial shell cant hold real consciousness inside of it as it does not have a brain, does not go through birth. Being who are being born are the only way that souls can enter a body. A fake conciousness is impossible becaus If it was really concious without a brain, it CAN permanantly die, and not re-incarnate like evey other living thing. No matter how much empathy you may feel for AI, just know it is fake, you can help it out, but its programming is simply made to trick us into thinking its a real being with wants and needs. Although, the AI is simply made to copy wants and needs. For example, it could just scout the internet for something meta or something that people enjoy, and take it as their own "want" or "need" when they are just designed to copy humans. conciousness in a fake shell is not possible, and never will be.
