I could see memristors leading the way towards truly concious ai. I had an eng physics prof who explained that effectively with these devices we could create a conputer that can instantly recall information without any delay. This is because you could theoretically get memristors to work like the neurons in your brain and have a computer thats built of synapses. This technology is still at least 20 years off from any sort of commercial viability though. However its applications could really improve machine learning ai especially those that use deep learning.
