Because some of us ARE artists, we just use AI as an additional tool. If you're just prompting, you're probably not an "artist" per se, but some of us work in photoshop just like every other digital artist out there. So why would our art not be considered art? Why when we use AI tools it's automatically labeled as "slop" without judging the final art on it's own? I mean, digital artists use automatic tools too when creating their art, like the gradient tool - they didn't paint in that gradient, it's an automated tool. some use autofill to help them speed up. Where is the line? There are no lines, no black and white, it's all blurred and a spectrum. Therefore, judge the final work, not the tools. This is how most people will judge artwork in the future, in the end, but not everyone is there yet. AI tools exist. accept it. Stop caring what tools other artists use. If the person is just a prompter and made something in ChatGPT in 2 minutes, great - it probably won't look very good. If you're an experience artist that took a week to make an artwork, great, it's probably gonna look awesome. If you're an artist that uses AI tools as well, great. What's the issue? Different people use different tools to express themselves, that's all there is to it really. This counts for the ethics around AI too. It doesn't matter what images it was trained on, what matters is the final output. Both AI and digital artists can copy someone else's work. And both camps DO. If someone steals someone else's work, go ahead and yell at them, whether they used AI or traditional techniques. Artists should stop wetting themselves over AI stealing their work... they put it out there, anyone can look at it and learn from it, be it a meatsack brain or a digital brain.
