Listening to this discussion puts me in mind of the lemmings and cliffs. The possibility of creating our own extinction is just sad and quite concerning. I am in the last period of my life, but I really wonder what sort of legacy I am leaving my children, grandchildren, and a newly born great-granddaughter. Yes, I do use AI in a minor way; it helps me as I write this comment, for example. This is useful as my fine motor skills are not what they used to be. The thought of having to live with a general intelligence AI, as currently concived, makes me, in quite a selfish way, glad that I am in my twilight years.
