I'm a mechanical engineering major aiming to work in factory automation. I already think that AI is going to be the largest change in human society possibly since farming. It's incredible what we can already do in a controlled setting. It legitimately frightens me how far ahead the military must be given that they will have some of the brightest people they can find to maintain their edge. I think I would support a ban on 100% autonomous machines in the military. However, I feel like AI assistance in the military is more OK? I'm not sure how to describe why though.
